ONE AIESEC made it happen - 2007/8 Report

Day No Three

The agenda of the day no 3 was more diversified comparing to previous days. There were 9 different sessions. The main messages that I buried in mind was about AIESEC as a Thriving Network – are we really such network taking into consideration i.e. clustered structure of the network? It means that Top 20 cluster countries want to cooperate only within this cluster, but in fact SHOULDN’T behave like that. Cooperation with the smallest AIESEC countries (Inch by Inch Cluster) was recommended for a great deal to ensure their growth and the growth of organization as a whole. The speech of Felipe was really energizing and it was one of the clearer messages I have heard during this IC.

Second message I got was about results of the previous term. Former PAI Gabiza Albescu gave a cool speech, reported on what has been happening throughout all year. There were many achievements like implementation of new system MyAIESEC.net with availability of almost 100%. However the most striking achievement was simply Measure of Success result. We did 86% of an exchange plan as a global organization which you can say is not satisfactory but we left the biggest ever pipeline for upcoming realizations!! No of Members, X+L and L were realized in over 100%! At the end AI Team 2007/8 danced their roll-call dance to ‘Jump’ of Madonna. It was moving moment, some of us got emotional ; )

Positive accent was also DHL launch, the most AIESEC-like launch. DHL got an award for the best AIESEC Partnership at global level. Nice : )
All for now.

60th Anniversary Celebrations started

Day No Two

60% of the agenda was sacrificed for celebrating the past 60 years of AIESEC. We had open space for exchanging ideas, discussing different topics from “Experience Russia” to “What makes my inner kid happy”. It was a great place to share perspectives of the youth and AIESEC Alumnus as well as to cross-check the worldviews and learn from each other. Facilitators were great - old AIESEC members, Alumnus.. You can feel the real athmosphere of global organisation, that aspire to act sustainably. Despite that it was Global AIESEC Alumni Hall of Fame and Brazilian Night which I perceive the event of the day.

There were 5 Awards given to AIESEC alumnus (Alumni from Columbia, Brasil, Chile, Sweden) and one for the best project. The Awaking Dragon CSR Program from China won – why? Mainly for its relevance and exchange results that it generated and impact that it has. AIESEC Mainland of China was rewarded 50 000 USD.

After the Hall Of Fame Gala we went to Brazilian Night! It was awesome! We could eat typical Brazilian dishes, taste different ‘jumping drinks’ ;), dance samba, watch beautiful dancers, listen to Brazilian music. After coming back to hotel we went to Cebulas room (as she still lives alone) and had ‘643 Room Party’ with our Polish Alumnus that are here with us.

Feel free to post your comments, if questions – ask! :)

International Congress 2008 Open!

Dear Members,

As yesterday on 21st of August International Congress 2008 was officially open in Brazil, Sao Paulo I decided to share with you on what is happening here and how are we using the time spent in Brasil to support you in achieving our ambitious goals.
Let’s say this is the first post of 10 that I will daily upload here throughout whole conference.
We also encourage you to visit IC Live WIKI here: http://www.myaiesec.net/content/viewwiki.do?contentid=10025190

Day No Zero
was mostly about celebration of the opening of IC. We woke up early in the morning and went to Holiday Inn hotel for the Opening Ceremony. We could admire many attractions such as Capoeira show (really cool, different to the polish ones!) as well a speeches of certain Personas.
Later on we were transported to Global Village. The event itself wasn’t different to others that I’ve already been to. It is a shame that it was indoor event, cause it was hot and … grey. What is worth mentioning the leaflet promoting GV contained photos that were taken on GV during IC 2006 in Poland – in front of PKiN. It means that our event became a history as role model . Cool!! Polish delegation had also its 5 minutes on the stage and what we did was Polonez dance to music from Pan Tadeusz movie by Andrzej Wajda. All in all - nice Polish accents! :)
Afterwards we went for Opening Plenary back in Holiday Inn. We did a roll call with visualizations aligned to our Poland Promotion Strategy and we danced “From Zero to Hero” as it is already a symbolic song for our term.
We all tired a lot went to beds earlier to be fresh and sound during morning plenary.

Day No One - today
On the morning plenary there was a launch of first campaign organized by XMU (global support team - eXchange Management Unit). It is called “I am an eXchanger Race”. It is simply awesome! In a period of time from Sep to Dec numbers of raises, matches and realizations will be counted and the highest scores will be rewarded! The competition includes both sides of exchange – TN and EP. Announcement: Poland participates in the race! :)
The first block of conference called GEAR UP started. We were talking about what thriving network is and what kind of people create as such and tried to answer a question whether we are those people.  There were also some goal setting session and about external trends (global, regional and local) that we can and should capitalize on this term.
And the literally sweet part: there was Cadbury Launch – we got sweets ;), also TCS Launch – we got something for computer mice.
In few minutes we will start a block of 60th Anniversary of AIESEC that will last till tomorrow evening.
That is all for now.

On behalf of IC Polish Delegation
